Termites

Another name used for termites is white ants. Termites are mistaken for ants and are white in appearance so have been given the name "white ants" by people. However, termites are not ants and are not closely related to ants. Termites are actually closely related to their friends the cockroaches.  Thus our friendly symbol of the cockroach and termite shaking hands.
