What to Expect during a Large Cockroach Treatment
Large cockroaches may be found inside and around homes and businesses, including roof and wall voids, subfloors, garages, drains and outdoor areas. Where they are found can vary depending on the cockroach species and the conditions around the property.
A large cockroach treatment involves assessing where activity is occurring and identifying potential harbourage areas, entry points and conditions that may be contributing to the problem. Treatment can then be targeted to the areas where cockroaches are living or travelling.
This guide explains how to prepare for your large cockroach treatment, what your technician may inspect and treat, what to expect after treatment, and practical steps that can help reduce future cockroach activity.
01
Booking Information
Booking and Treatment Time
Large cockroach treatments generally take approximately one to two hours, although treatment time can vary depending on the size of the property, the level and location of activity, and the areas requiring treatment.
Your scheduled booking time is an arrival window. For example, if your arrival window is between 10:00 am and 12:00 noon, your technician may arrive at any time during that period. Please allow additional time after the arrival window for the treatment to be completed.
Before Your Appointment
When booking your treatment, let Surekill know where you have been seeing cockroaches and whether activity has been noticed indoors, outdoors, in the roof space, subfloor, garage, drains or other areas of the property.
Weather Conditions
Because large cockroach treatments may include external areas, rain or unsuitable weather conditions can affect the service. If weather conditions could affect the safe or effective application of the treatment, Surekill may contact you to reschedule.
Licensed and Insured Technicians
Surekill Pest Control is fully insured, and our pest management technicians are appropriately licensed and follow relevant EPA requirements and product label directions when carrying out cockroach treatments.
Free Service Period
Your large cockroach treatment includes a three-month free service period. If you continue to experience large cockroach activity during this period, contact Surekill Pest Control so we can discuss the activity and arrange further treatment where applicable.
Payment Options
Payment can be made by EFT/bank transfer, cash, EFTPOS or credit card. Payment is required before treatment commences.

How to Prepare for a Large Cockroach Treatment
Reduce Clutter
Remove unnecessary clutter from areas where cockroach activity has been noticed. Pay particular attention to garages, storage areas, subfloors and other locations that may provide sheltered harbourage.
Food and Rubbish
Clean up food scraps and spills, empty rubbish where practical and keep food stored in sealed containers. Do not leave pet food or dirty food bowls out in areas requiring treatment.
Storage Areas
Where practical, use sealed plastic storage containers rather than cardboard boxes. Keep stored items organised so your technician can inspect and access walls, corners and other potential cockroach harbourage areas.
Outdoor Areas
Remove accumulated leaf litter, grass clippings and other unnecessary debris from immediately around the building. Keep access clear around areas where cockroach activity has been noticed.
Property Access
Ensure your technician can safely access areas that may require inspection or treatment, including the roof space, subfloor, garage and external perimeter where applicable.
This preparation is particularly useful for larger cockroach species because they can occur well beyond kitchens and may be associated with roof voids, subfloors, drains, garbage areas and external environments.

03
Before Treatment
Discuss the Cockroach Activity
When your technician arrives, show them where you have been seeing large cockroaches and describe when and where the activity is most noticeable. Let them know if cockroaches have been seen in roof spaces, subfloors, garages, drains or outdoor areas.
Property Inspection
Your technician will assess the property for cockroach activity, potential harbourage areas, entry points and conditions that may be contributing to the problem. The inspection helps determine which areas require treatment.
Pets
Keep pets away from areas being inspected and treated. Remove pet food and water bowls from treatment areas.
Fish Ponds and Bird Cages
Cover fish tanks, ponds and bird cages where they are within or near treatment areas to prevent exposure to products used during the service.
Air Conditioning
Turn off air-conditioning and ventilation systems before treatment where requested by your technician.
Water Tanks
Tell your technician the location of any water tanks and associated collection areas so appropriate precautions can be taken during external treatment.
Chemical Sensitivities
Tell Surekill before treatment if anyone at the property has a known chemical sensitivity. People with chemical sensitivities should remain away from treated areas for 24 hours, or until the treatment has completely dried and the area has been adequately ventilated, whichever is longer.
Safe Access
Ensure safe and clear access to roof spaces, subfloors and other areas that may require inspection or treatment.

04
Large Cockroach Treatment Process
Targeted Treatment
Your technician will determine the appropriate treatment based on the cockroach activity and conditions identified during the inspection. Treatment is targeted to areas where large cockroaches are harbouring, travelling or entering the property.
Internal Areas
Where required, treatment may be applied to suitable cracks, crevices, wall junctions, skirting areas and other locations where cockroaches are likely to hide or travel. Treatment methods are selected according to the location and conditions of the property.
Roof and Wall Voids
Large cockroach species can harbour in roof and wall voids. Where these areas are safely accessible and activity is identified or suspected, appropriate treatments may be applied to these concealed spaces.
Subfloor Areas
Where applicable, accessible subfloor areas may be treated, particularly where moisture, shelter or cockroach activity is present.
External Areas
Treatment may include suitable areas around the building perimeter, patios, verandas, garages and other external locations where large cockroaches are harbouring or travelling.
Drains and Other Harbourage Areas
Large cockroaches can also be associated with drains, grease traps, rubbish areas and other moist or sheltered environments. Where relevant, your technician will assess these areas and determine the appropriate treatment approach.

05
After Your Large Cockroach Treatment
Re-Entry After Treatment
Keep people and pets away from treated areas until the products have dried and any re-entry instructions provided by your technician have been followed.
Cockroach Activity After Treatment
You may notice dead, dying or slow-moving cockroaches after treatment as the products take effect. Some cockroach activity may continue for a period after the service, particularly where cockroaches have been harbouring in concealed areas.
Egg Cases
Cockroach egg cases may already be present in harbourage areas at the time of treatment, and some may hatch afterwards. This is one reason activity can sometimes be noticed following an initial treatment.
Avoid Disturbing Treated Areas
Avoid washing or cleaning treated surfaces immediately after the service. Your technician will advise when normal cleaning can resume so residual treatments are not unnecessarily removed.
Monitor Cockroach Activity
Keep an eye on where cockroaches are being seen after treatment. The location and frequency of any continuing activity can provide useful information if further assessment is required.
Further Activity
If you continue to notice large cockroach activity, contact Surekill Pest Control and let us know what you are seeing. Your technician can advise whether further assessment or treatment is required.

How to Help Keep Large Cockroaches Away
Reduce Food Sources
Clean up food spills and crumbs promptly and keep food stored in sealed containers. Avoid leaving dirty dishes, pet food or food waste accessible overnight.
Reduce Water and Moisture
Repair leaking taps and pipes and address areas where water regularly accumulates. Large cockroaches are commonly associated with moist environments, so reducing unnecessary moisture can make the property less favourable to them.
Manage Rubbish
Keep rubbish in securely closed bins and regularly clean areas where food waste or other organic material can accumulate.
Seal Entry Points
Seal suitable cracks, gaps and openings around pipes, doors and other potential entry points. Door seals or draft excluders can also help reduce cockroach entry from outside.
Maintain Outdoor Areas
Remove excessive leaf litter, grass clippings and other accumulated organic debris from around the building. Keep garden and storage areas reasonably clear, particularly near walls and entrances.
Watch for Cockroach Activity
Continue watching for cockroaches around the property, particularly in roof spaces, subfloors, garages, drains and outdoor areas. Early signs of renewed activity can help identify a developing problem.
Ongoing Pest Risk Management
For properties requiring ongoing pest management, Surekill can develop a tailored Risk Management Program based on the property's individual pest risks, environmental conditions and ongoing management requirements.
