What to Expect During a FUMITHOR HYGIENE Disinfection Treatment

FUMITHOR HYGIENE is a dry smoke disinfection treatment used by Surekill Pest Control for enclosed spaces where broad surface coverage is required. The treatment disperses fine disinfectant particles throughout the treatment area, allowing them to reach exposed surfaces and areas that can be difficult to access with conventional liquid applications.

The treatment may be suitable for a range of residential and commercial environments, including food-handling areas, medical rooms, animal facilities and other premises where additional hygiene and disinfection measures are required.

Because FUMITHOR HYGIENE is applied as a dry smoke, it does not add humidity to the treated environment or leave surfaces wet following application.

The premises must be appropriately prepared and remain unoccupied during treatment. Your Surekill technician will assess the area, prepare the treatment according to the product requirements and provide instructions for ventilation and re-entry.

This guide explains how to prepare for a FUMITHOR HYGIENE disinfection treatment, what happens during application and what to expect before re-entering the treated area.

01

Booking Information

Booking and Treatment Time

FUMITHOR HYGIENE disinfection treatments generally take approximately 45 minutes, although the total time required can vary depending on the size and number of areas being treated.

Your scheduled booking time is an arrival window. For example, if your arrival window is between 10:00 am and 12:00 noon, your technician may arrive at any time during that period. Please allow additional time after the arrival window for preparation, treatment and the required settling period.

Treatment Area

When booking, let Surekill know which rooms or enclosed areas require disinfection and how the premises are normally used. This helps us determine the treatment requirements before attending the property.

Occupancy and Re-Entry

People and animals cannot remain within the treatment area during application. The area must also remain closed for the required period following activation. Your technician will advise you when ventilation can begin and when the area can be safely re-entered.

Weather Conditions

Because FUMITHOR HYGIENE is used within enclosed areas, normal weather conditions generally do not affect the treatment.

Licensed and Insured Technicians

Surekill Pest Control is fully insured, and our pest management technicians are appropriately licensed and follow relevant regulatory requirements and product label directions when carrying out FUMITHOR HYGIENE treatments.

Payment Options

Payment can be made by EFT/bank transfer, cash, EFTPOS or credit card. Payment is required before treatment commences.

How to Prepare for Disinfection Treatment

Turn Off Air Conditioning and Ventilation

Turn off air-conditioning units, fans and ventilation systems before treatment. This helps keep the dry smoke within the enclosed treatment area while it disperses and settles.

Close Windows and External Doors

Close windows and external doors before the treatment begins. The treatment area needs to remain enclosed during application and for the required settling period.

Remove People and Animals

All people, pets and other animals must leave the treatment area before application begins and remain away until the required re-entry instructions have been followed.

Food and Sensitive Items

Tell Surekill if the treatment area contains exposed food, food preparation equipment, sensitive materials or other items that may require particular preparation before treatment. Your technician will advise what needs to be removed, covered or otherwise protected.

Fire and Smoke Detection Systems

Tell Surekill about smoke detectors, fire alarms or monitored fire-detection systems within the treatment area before the appointment. Your technician can advise what arrangements are required for the treatment.

Chemical Sensitivities

Tell Surekill before treatment if anyone who uses the premises has a known chemical sensitivity or respiratory concern. Your technician will advise whether any additional precautions, ventilation or extended absence period is required before re-entry.

Keep the Treatment Area Accessible

Ensure your technician has clear access to all rooms and enclosed areas requiring treatment so the premises can be inspected and prepared before application.

03

Before Treatment

Discuss the Treatment Requirements

Your Surekill technician will discuss the areas requiring disinfection and any particular hygiene or contamination concerns associated with the premises.

Inspect the Treatment Area

Before application, your technician will inspect the treatment area and consider the size and layout of the space, access, ventilation and other conditions that may affect the treatment.

Confirm the Area is Vacant

All people and animals must be outside the treatment area before the FUMITHOR HYGIENE application begins.

Check Windows and Ventilation

Your technician will confirm that windows and external doors are closed and that air-conditioning, fans and ventilation systems have been switched off as required.

Fire and Smoke Detection Systems

Any arrangements required for smoke detectors, fire alarms or monitored detection systems will be confirmed before the treatment begins.

Environmental and Safety Check

Your technician will complete the necessary checks to confirm that the treatment can be carried out safely and in accordance with the FUMITHOR HYGIENE product directions and applicable requirements.

Final Preparation

Once the area has been checked and prepared, your technician will determine the appropriate placement and amount of product required for the space before beginning the treatment.

FUMITHOR HYGIENE Treatment Process

Positioning the Treatment

Your technician will position the FUMITHOR HYGIENE dry smoke generator within the prepared treatment area according to the size and layout of the space and the product directions.

Activating the Treatment

Once the area has been secured, your technician activates the FUMITHOR HYGIENE dry smoke generator and immediately leaves the treatment area. The unit then produces a fine dry disinfectant smoke that disperses throughout the enclosed space.

Dry Smoke Distribution

The smoke moves throughout the treatment area, allowing fine disinfectant particles to reach exposed horizontal and vertical surfaces as well as areas that may be difficult to reach using conventional liquid applications.

Settling Period

Once dispersed, the disinfectant particles are allowed to settle throughout the treatment area. Windows and external doors remain closed and ventilation systems remain switched off during the required treatment and settling period.

No Occupancy During Treatment

No people or animals can remain inside the treatment area while the FUMITHOR HYGIENE treatment is being carried out.

Ventilation and Re-Entry

After the required treatment period, the premises must be ventilated before normal occupancy resumes. Your technician will advise when doors and windows can be opened and provide the appropriate re-entry instructions for the property.

05

After Your Disinfection Treatment

Keep the Area Closed

The treated area must remain closed for the required period after activation to allow the FUMITHOR HYGIENE particles to disperse and settle. Do not enter the area before the advised re-entry time.

Ventilate the Premises

When the required treatment period has finished, ventilate the treated area according to your technician's instructions. This may involve opening doors and windows and allowing fresh air to circulate before normal occupancy resumes.

Re-Entry After Treatment

People and animals should only return once the required treatment and ventilation periods have been completed. Follow the specific re-entry instructions provided by your technician.

Chemical Sensitivities

People with known chemical sensitivities or respiratory concerns should follow any additional ventilation or extended re-entry instructions provided by your technician before returning to the treated premises.

Return the Premises to Normal Use

Once the required ventilation and re-entry instructions have been completed, air-conditioning and ventilation systems can be returned to normal operation as advised by your technician.

Further Disinfection Requirements

The need for future disinfection treatments will depend on how the premises are used and the hygiene risks present. Commercial, food-handling, medical or animal facilities may require ongoing hygiene measures or scheduled treatments according to their individual requirements.

How to Help Maintain a Hygienic Environment

Maintain Regular Cleaning

Continue routine cleaning throughout the premises. Remove waste promptly, reduce unnecessary clutter and keep storage areas clean and organised.

Clean Frequently Touched Surfaces

Regularly clean frequently touched surfaces such as door handles, benches, work surfaces, switches and shared equipment using appropriate cleaning products.

Maintain Good Hand Hygiene

Regular handwashing is an important part of reducing the spread of germs. Hands should be washed thoroughly, particularly before food preparation and eating and after handling waste or contaminated materials.

Manage Food and Waste Areas

Keep food preparation and storage areas clean and manage rubbish appropriately. Clean spills and contamination promptly and maintain bins and waste areas.

Maintain Equipment and Facilities

Regularly clean and maintain equipment, ventilation systems and other areas relevant to the way the premises are used. Hygiene procedures should be appropriate for the particular environment.

Continue Routine Hygiene Practices

FUMITHOR HYGIENE provides broad dry smoke disinfection of the treated area, but it does not replace routine cleaning, good hygiene practices or appropriate infection-control procedures.

Ongoing Hygiene Risk Management

Commercial, food-handling, medical and animal facilities may benefit from scheduled disinfection as part of an ongoing Risk Management Program, depending on the activities carried out at the premises and the hygiene risks involved.
