What to Expect from Commercial Pest Control

Commercial pest control requires a planned approach based on the type of business, the property, pest risks and any industry or compliance requirements. Surekill Pest Control tailors commercial pest management services to suit each site rather than applying the same program to every business.

Your service may include inspections, monitoring, targeted treatments, pest prevention, reporting and scheduled ongoing services. Where required, a Service Treatment Register can be maintained to provide a record of pest activity, treatments and recommendations.

This guide explains what to expect when arranging commercial pest control with Surekill, from the initial assessment and development of your pest management program through to ongoing servicing, reporting and risk management.

01

Booking and Commercial Service Information

Booking an Initial Site Assessment

Commercial pest management generally begins with an initial site visit. A Senior Technician will meet with the customer or site representative, discuss the business's pest concerns and assess the premises and areas requiring pest management.

Site Assessment

The assessment considers the type of premises, current pest activity, areas of potential pest risk and the requirements of the business. Relevant internal and external areas may be inspected depending on the property and pest concerns.

Commercial Pest Management Proposal

Following the assessment, Surekill Pest Control will recommend an appropriate pest management approach and provide a quote outlining the proposed services and ongoing servicing where required.

Service Frequency

Where regular pest management is recommended, the frequency of visits will be tailored to the business, premises, pest pressures and identified risks.

Payment Arrangements

Payment arrangements for commercial services will be confirmed when the quote and service program are established.

How to Prepare for Commercial Pest Control

Advise Us of Any Changes

Let Surekill know if there has been any change in pest activity or site conditions since the initial assessment.

Provide Access

Ensure the technician can access the areas included in the agreed service. Where necessary, arrange access to locked, restricted or normally inaccessible areas before the appointment.

Food, Stock and Sensitive Items

Follow any preparation instructions provided by Surekill for food, stock, packaging, equipment or other sensitive items. Requirements will depend on the areas being serviced and treatments being carried out.

Inform Relevant Staff

Where necessary, advise staff or contractors that pest control will be taking place and ensure treatment areas can be kept clear when required.

Chemical Sensitivities

Tell Surekill before the service if anyone who uses the premises has a known chemical sensitivity. Any additional precautions or re-entry requirements will depend on the products and treatment methods being used.

Commercial Pest Inspection and Assessment

Review the Agreed Service

Before commencing, the technician will review the areas and pest management requirements included in the agreed commercial service.

Service Treatment Register

Surekill Pest Control provides a Service Treatment Register for ongoing commercial pest management customers. Service visits are documented in the register, and the customer can also record pest sightings or activity noticed between scheduled visits. This information can then be reviewed by the technician during future services.

Initial Pest Control Service

The initial service may include inspection, monitoring, targeted treatments and other pest management measures appropriate to the premises and pest risks identified.

Establish Monitoring

Where required, monitoring devices or systems may be installed or established as part of the ongoing pest management program.

Identify Additional Pest Risks

If additional pest activity, access points, harbourage or conditions contributing to pest problems are identified during the service, these can be discussed with the customer and recommendations made where appropriate.

Safety and Site Requirements

Treatments are carried out according to the registered product label and relevant site requirements. The technician will provide any necessary safety, re-entry or operational instructions relating to the treatments performed.

04

Regular Commercial Pest Management Visits

Review the Service Treatment Register

At each scheduled visit, the technician can review pest activity recorded in the Service Treatment Register, including any sightings or concerns noted by the customer since the previous service.

Inspect and Monitor Pest Activity

The technician will inspect relevant areas and check for current pest activity, changes in pest pressure and conditions that may contribute to pest problems. Monitoring devices or systems will also be checked where applicable.

Carry Out Required Treatments

Where pest activity is identified, appropriate targeted treatments may be carried out as part of the agreed service. Treatment methods will depend on the pest, location and conditions present.

Check for Changes Around the Premises

Changes to storage, waste areas, equipment, building access points, moisture or other site conditions can affect pest risk. Where relevant, these conditions may be discussed with the customer and recommendations provided.

Document the Service

The service visit is documented to provide an ongoing record of pest activity, treatments carried out and relevant recommendations.

Schedule Ongoing Visits

Regular visits continue according to the agreed service frequency. The commercial pest management program can be reviewed where pest activity, business operations or site conditions change.

After Your Commercial Pest Management Service

Follow Treatment Instructions

Where treatments have been carried out, follow any re-entry, cleaning or other instructions provided by the technician. Requirements will depend on the products and treatment methods used during the service.

Review Pest Activity and Findings

Where relevant, the technician will discuss pest activity identified during the visit and any areas that may require attention before the next scheduled service.

Follow Recommendations

Recommendations may be provided to help address conditions contributing to pest activity, such as access points, food or waste management, storage practices, moisture or harbourage areas.

Continue Recording Pest Activity

Between scheduled visits, record any pest sightings or unusual activity in the Service Treatment Register. Include the location and, where possible, when the activity was noticed. This information helps the technician investigate the area during the next visit.

Contact Surekill Between Visits

If significant or unusual pest activity occurs between scheduled services, contact Surekill Pest Control rather than waiting until the next visit. We can assess the situation and determine whether additional attention is required.

Ongoing Commercial Pest Risk Management

Maintain Good Housekeeping

Keep food preparation, storage, staff and waste areas clean and well maintained. Promptly clean spills and food residues and avoid allowing unnecessary clutter to accumulate.

Manage Waste and Storage Areas

Keep bins and waste areas clean and appropriately managed. Store stock and materials in a way that allows areas to be inspected and helps reduce potential pest harbourage.

Reduce Pest Entry Points

Maintain doors, screens, seals and other suitable building entry points. Where gaps or defects are identified, arrange repairs where practical to help reduce pest access.

Address Contributing Conditions

Attend to water leaks, moisture problems, damaged areas and other conditions that may provide pests with food, water or harbourage.

Encourage Staff to Report Pest Activity

Staff should report pest sightings or signs of activity when they occur. These can be recorded in the Service Treatment Register so recurring or emerging pest problems can be identified and investigated.

Review the Risk Management Program

Commercial pest risks can change as business operations, premises and surrounding conditions change. Surekill Pest Control can review the Risk Management Program over time and adjust monitoring, treatment or service frequency where appropriate.
